Successful
Collingwood has dozens of major performance improvement projects to date, several of which go on to result in business sales at very good multiples. The scale of improvement is huge, typically amounting to £1m additional profit for each £10m of client turnover.
Range of Solutions
Every Collingwood project is different. There is no immediate itinerary of “things to do”. The action plan comes from working with owners and managers in an initial study. But although there is no “one size fits all”, recurring themes are apparent.
Usually improvements include a revision of the business processes, both operational and commercial. The objective is to give the client simple, low-maintenance approaches that deliver significant benefits.
Sometimes organisational structures require change, in that some areas of a company are over or under subscribed in terms of numbers and skill. Collingwood has forty years experience of developing low cost but effective organisational structures.
Occasionally the changes described above result in adjustments to or clarification of commercial strategy. For example a client may decide that it should move towards a more standard product range, or introduce a pricing policy based on location utilisation, or decide that it should sell more on the basis of service as opposed to price. Often these seemingly minor changes result in major profit improvement.

Collingwood as an Investment
Once a project has commenced, all Collingwood work is on a part time basis and uses client resources where possible. Projects usually last between a year and eighteen months, and represent an exceptional investment on behalf of the client.
